How to Make Your Kids Want to Eat Fruits and Veggies (The Stress-Free Way)

Among the different healthy foods that you want your kids to eat, fruits and vegetables are probably at the top of the list. If you have picky eaters who want nothing to do with them, making eating fun can immensely encourage them to try different ones and figure out what veggies are their favorite.

Here are some steps you can take to make your kids eat fruits and veggies.

Cut Foods Into Fun Shapes

This is a fantastic way to make eating fruits and veggies fun for kids, especially younger kids. There are a lot of fruits and vegetables that can be cut thinly and cut into shapes, whether you do it on your own or you use cookie cutters. You can cut an apple into thin slices and use a metal cookie butter to make stars, hearts, or butterflies. You can also put together different scenery with their veggies, like cutting carrots and zucchini with animal cookie cutters to create a little zoo of veggies. You do not want to do this every time so that they will continue to see it as a fun treat.

Give Them Fruit or Veggie Kabobs

When preparing lunches for your kids, think of ways to give them fruits and veggies, but more enjoyably than just slicing it up and putting them in a bento box. Kabobs can be fun to put together and eat, so they are definitely a good choice for kids. Get some kabob skewers made of plastic, as some of the wood ones have splinters when pulling the fruit off of them. You also do not want them to be too sharp at the ends of the skewers. Put chunks of fruit like watermelon, pineapple, and mango, or go with a veggie one like a salad, such as cherry tomatoes, lettuce, and cucumber.

Serve Them Something Yummy

Sometimes kids that distaste vegetables only need them alongside something they really enjoy eating. So if your son loves grilled cheese sandwiches, put tomato and lettuce inside the grilled cheese. That way, he gets to eat his favorite lunch or dinner and eat some veggies at the same time. You can do this with a lot of different meals, from sandwiches and burgers to pasta and chili. If you can get your kids to help prepare the meals as well, it will encourage them, even more, to eat healthily and enjoy their fruits and veggies.

Believe it or not, there is another brilliant and God-given way of sneaking in loads of nutrients into your kids’ diet. This is especially helpful if you do not have the time to disguise fruits and veggies as cartoon characters. Give your picky eaters Santé Choco Barley from Orgaanics. Pack their meal with vitamins and minerals, and they will thank you for the chocolatey drink.
