A food detox is not about starving yourself and drinking nothing but lemon and maple syrup water for a week straight. You can still eat, but you should reconsider what you eat and the ingredients in those foods. Soup is an excellent choice for lunch or dinner, and can help you get lots of vitamins and minerals. Here are some different detox soups you can try.
Veggie Turmeric Soup
Two really good things to include in your food detox are turmeric and vegetables, so it makes sense that you would want to combine them for a delicious and filling soup. The great thing about this soup is that the main base are vegetables, so you can get creative and use ones you enjoy eating. However, it would be best to use veggies that are superfoods, since they will be best for your detox. This includes kale, broccoli, cauliflower, and the like. Some other veggies you might like are tomatoes, onions, carrots, and celery. Add in your turmeric and other seasonings, then cook it with some vegetable broth.
Believe it or not, chicken soup or chicken noodle soup can be excellent for a food detox. The trick here is to make it homemade and skip the noodles or use another healthier version. You might not want a lot of refined carbs when doing a detox, so you can replace the noodles with something whole grain or add plenty of vegetables instead. Making your own chicken soup is easy. Start with low-sodium chicken broth, then add in cooked chicken and veggies, like carrots, onion, celery, broccoli, and peas. Add in some apple cider vinegar, olive oil, ginger, and other seasonings.
Another way to have a detox soup is to simply make a soup that includes plenty of different superfoods all in one dish. Like the vegetable and chicken soups, you are going to choose any superfoods you have on hand or the ones you like, then throw it into the soup. This also happens to be a great way to use up some of your leftover produce and herbs, if you cannot think about what else to do with them. When using chicken broth or vegetable broth, try to go with the low-sodium version. Add some protein like beans and lentil, then go with all your veggies, such as onions, carrots, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, and any others you enjoy. Add some olive oil, herbs, and seasonings, and let it cook.
